10 Thoughts on Episode 7 of Insecure

The Labor Day weekend was a true blessing and Insecure was surely a nice way to end the weekend (I saw it on Monday). We all know ish was about to hit the fan based on how things ended in the last episode, so without further adieu let's get to the mess that was episode 7. 

1. Am I Trippin'?

Why do I feel like I'm the only one who thinks Issa and Molly are being a tad bit dramatic. Maybe it's because I've recently hopped on the Daniel train and he could do no wrong. I understand that Issa may feel embarrassed about the situation but Daniel did give her a heads up (no pun intended). Take the learning lesson, Issa, and keep it pushing. 

2. WOW!

Vice Principal Gaines is RACIST! Point period blank. This kid could use the SAT prep and Gaines is literally blocking his progress because he's not black. We can throw the whole "black people can't be racist," statement out the window because this is the very example of systematic oppression. I get wanting to look out for "your own" but keeping Latinos from opportunities that could provide potential success is out of line, especially when its your freaking job. Who hired this guy? 

3. Yawn

I see why we have to watch scenes with Lawerence's boring a** co-workers...clearly Aparna's in line to be his new hook up. Okay. Thanks but no thanks. 

4. Okay TSA! 

Look at Lil Rel shooting his shot. Is this a potential love interest? I mean, I'm all for black love but they don't match. I get friend vibes and clearly so does Molly. He's not really her type, her type is married. 

5. Are You Dumb?

Molly got me channeling my inner Remy Ma whenever she shares a scene with Dro. Yes, Candice, his WIFE, is coming to the dinner party. You have no right to feel any way about it. You knew exactly what you signed up for. 

6. Petty Betty

Issa's inner monologue had me in tears, as usual, but she was speaking straight facts. It was an immature move for Lawerence to block Issa on social media. "Five years by your side and I'm just a button my n***a?" I guess time means nothing to f**k boys. 

7. This Is Too Awkward

Candice please let's not pretend to be friends with Molly, that ship has sailed when Molly started sleeping with your husband. This conversation is so forced and I was glad when it ended.

8. Lawerence the Dummy

How else do people have dinner? I don't understand how Lawerence did not know it was a "sit down dinner situation?" Do people usually stand at dinners? Let's be honest, he wanted to be petty and bring some chick to make Issa jealous. And Aparna, let's not play fake innocent "random girl Lawerence brought to the party," you invited yourself. 

9. Chill All The Way Out

First of all, Lawerence, lower the tone. It's a bit aggressive and you're acting real defensive. If you weren't "parading" Aparna in front of Issa and Co. then why the hell did you bring her? Second of all, It was A picture. Just one, not pictures with an s. And that ONE picture was Issa in the background with Daniel. Don't be basic by jumping to conclusions. How dare he ask her "who else she f**ked." It was one time, Lawerence, move on. And Lastly...a hoe tho? Did he really need to call her a hoe? She supported him and the thanks she gets for five years of being faithful and dealing with his bum, broke a** is being called a hoe...after one mistake. Lawerence ain't s**t Issa! Get yours!

10. Molly Just Got Demoted to Side Chick

Did Molly really believe that she could be in a relationship with Dro? She looked like a used rag waiting for Dro to head back to the party before her. It's a shame because everything she would want from being in a relationship she can't have. Basic things like sitting beside him at a dinner table, holding his hand in pubic and even walking out of the same room with him is unattainable because she will never be his wife. If Dro and Candice were so open about having an open relationship, Dro would've had no problem being affectionate with Molly in public. The reality is she is just the side chick the wife is okay with. Nothing solid will ever come from that. I hope she really sticks to her guns and ends thing with Dro.
